What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency (Veterinarian) position at Tempus Recruitment?
The Package
This 24-hour emergency and specialty center is well regarded and respected in the Orange County veterinary community and they are currently looking for an Emergency Veterinarian.
The practice itself is over ten years old and is primarily a critical care and internal medicine focused practice. It is located in a collaborative campus of other specialists, encompassing all specialties in veterinary medicine including but not limited to oncology, neurology, radiation oncology, dermatology, dentistry and ophthalmology. The practice was recently completely remodeled and is housed in a two-story, 7500 square foot facility with all the accompanying and imaginable bells and whistles.
The spacious facility meets the needs of all of its specialists and includes six exam rooms, two surgical suites and a large treatment room. Available equipment includes anesthetic and mechanical ventilators, diagnostic and portable ultrasounds, oxygen cages and endoscopy towers (flexible and rigid video scores as well as laparoscopy and arthroscopy). In addition, the practice uses both digital radiograph and has a fluoroscopy (portable C-arm).
Laboratory equipment includes in-house CBC, in-house chemistry, Nova (electrolytes and blood gas) and colloid osmometer. Intensive care monitoring capabilities include recently upgraded pulse oximetry with, Capnography (EMMA portable capnographs and stand alone capnography), direct and indirect blood pressure monitoring, CVP monitoring, intra-abdominal pressure monitoring and wireless continuous telemetry. Advanced imaging (CT, MRI and scintigraphy) is also available next door.
The hospital fosters a relaxed and collegial atmosphere with a large support staff of 50 employees. Of 22 highly skilled veterinary technicians, 13 are registered veterinary technicians and 3 are boarded in emergency and critical care.
Since this is already a very busy hospital with a heavy caseload and a strong referral base, this position offers the opportunity to a variety of interesting cases and also to work collaboratively with all the specialty departments.
