We are seeking a skilled and experienced California-licensed employment defense attorney to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who values independence, flexibility, and direct client interaction.
Job Summary:
The position will be primarily remote aside from court appearances. In-office onboarding and training would be required for the first couple of months. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of representing employers in employment-related litigation, including cases of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, and retaliation claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Litigation Defense: Represent employers in employment-related litigation, including cases of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, and retaliation claims.
- Legal Research and Case Strategy: Conduct legal research, develop case strategies, and stay current on employment law updates.
- Employment Law Compliance: Advise clients on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FLSA, Title VII, ADA, FMLA).
- Drafting Legal Documents: Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents for court proceedings.
- Dispute Resolution: Engage in negotiations, mediations, and arbitration to settle disputes between employers and employees.
- Risk Management and Policy Development: Assist employers in creating and updating employee handbooks and workplace policies to minimize legal risk.
- Client Counseling: Provide ongoing legal advice to clients on workplace issues, including hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice law in California.
- 2 years of experience in employment law, with a focus on representing employers (preferred).
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently.
- Comfort with remote work while maintaining a collaborative approach with the team.
