Overview
Temple Shalom, Medford Jewish Community Center, is seeking a full time custodian to work Monday through Friday from 6am to 2pm (40hr/wk), compensated at $27 hourly. Benefits include 2 weeks paid vacation and the following paid holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Indigenous People's Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas eve/day.
There are three general responsibilities: cleaning, event setup, and grounds care including snow shoveling / snow blowing.
Duties
- Daily cleaning of school/camp building including mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning bathrooms, and dusting.
- Weekly cleaning of main building including mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning bathrooms, and dusting.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles regularly, and set out recycling bins for weekly pickup.
- Break down and set up tables and chairs each week as required for each week’s events.
- Take weekly inventory of supplies.
- Custodial support for a nursery school program that runs during the school year and a summer camp that runs in the summer.
- During winter must be able to clear paths of snow using a snow blower and shovel. Candidate option for overtime in the event of off-hours storms.
- Occasional light maintenance, such as touch up painting, changing light bulbs.
- Report any maintenance issues needed.
Qualifications
- Candidate should be self motivated, responsible, and work well with others.
- CORI/SORI - Must successfully clear Criminal Offenders Record Information and Sex Offender Registry Information checks
- Ability to communicate and follow instructions in English.
- Ability to complete physical tasks including moving furniture, using a snowblower, and working on a ladder. Lift/carry/push weights up to 50 lbs.
