POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of manual machine tools, including lathes, mills, and grinders, to manufacture precision metal parts according to detailed specifications and blueprints. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings. The Manual Machinist must maintain tight tolerances, ensure quality control, and perform routine equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement in a production or job-shop environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

· Must be able to read prints, drawings, and specifications and apply knowledge to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished parts and set up requirements.

· Set up and operate the machine on trial runs to verify the accuracy of settings.

· Set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle.

· Capable of identifying machining malfunctions or deviations and making necessary adjustments to controls.

· Proficient in reading and interpreting job orders, safety guidelines, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals.

· Skilled in applying algebraic and geometric principles to practical tasks.

· Experienced in using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement tools essential to the job.

· Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.

· Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces.

· Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

· Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.

· Accurately complete and submit daily production sheets to the supervisor.

· Maintains punctual attendance and notifies supervisors in advance of any absences or tardiness.

· Maintains a safe, compliant work environment by following OSHA and company standards and reporting hazards or maintenance needs to the supervisor. Complies with PPE requirements and participates in safety training, drills, and incident reporting.

· Ensure that all prints remain with the correct parts throughout the process.

· Contributes to team effort and completes other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

· Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Coordination, Attention to Detail, Judgment, Manual Dexterity (use of hands), Physical Strength (lift/move up to 45 lbs), Physical Stamina (stand for extended periods)

· Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, airborne particles, chemicals, and/or fumes

· Warehouse temperature fluctuates due to weather conditions

· Noise level can be loud, at times

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
