The purpose of this role is to implement, coordinate, and sustain trauma-informed practices throughout out the Temple Israel community. This role focuses on supporting impacted individuals including congregants, students, families, clergy, teachers, professional staff, administrative staff, and security personnel.

§ Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, education, public health, nonprofit leadership, or a related field, and a minimum of five years of experience in mental health, trauma response, program coordination, or community support services (required).
§ Master’s degree with two years of related experience (preferred).
§ Prior experience coordinating trauma response or mental health services within a school, synagogue, nonprofit, healthcare, or community setting.
§ Experience supervising, mentoring, or coordinating teams involved in crisis response and recovery efforts.
§ Ability to provide culturally responsive, respectful, and inclusive support within a Jewish community setting.
§ Specialized training in trauma recovery, grief and bereavement, crisis response, psychological first aid, or community resiliency models.
§ Experience developing and implementing collaborative programs and services with community organizations and multidisciplinary teams.
§ Experience in grant writing.
§ Experience implementing trauma-informed practices across organizations or community systems.
§ Knowledge of trauma-informed care, grief/bereavement support, crisis management, mental/behavioral health services, and community recovery practices.
§ Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
§ Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage compassionately and effectively with diverse audiences including congregants, families, students, staff, leadership, and external partners.
§ Trauma-informed certification (Preferred)
TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE & RECOVERY PROGRAM LEADERSHIP
§ Coordinate and implement policies, procedures, protocols, and practices that prioritize trauma-informed care. Create a safe, supportive, compassionate, and predictable environment for all members of our community.
§ Ensure that behavioral health and wellness supports for staff, clergy, congregants, students, and families are high quality, evidence-based, culturally responsive, and readily accessible to promote healing and resiliency.
§ Assist in developing systems to assess ongoing community needs and evaluate the effectiveness of recovery and support services to inform program improvement and resource allocation.
§ Work collaboratively with local, state, and national organizations specializing in trauma recovery, crisis response, and mass violence recovery to support long-term community healing.
TRAINING, EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
§ Provide, plan, and facilitate ongoing training, education, consultation, and professional development for clergy, educators, professional staff, administrative staff, and leadership on recognizing, responding to, and supporting individuals impacted by trauma and grief.
§ Participate in ongoing professional development and specialized training related to trauma recovery, grief/bereavement, crisis response, resiliency, and community healing.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, ADVOCACY & CARE COORDINATION
§ Collaborate with counselors, mental/behavioral health professionals, educators, victim service professionals, healthcare providers, and community partners to ensure that congregants, families, students, and staff receive appropriate support and access to resources.
§ Serve as an advocate and liaison among Temple Israel departments, families, community agencies, schools, and partner organizations to promote a coordinated and unified recovery response.
§ Coordinate community support efforts, donations, volunteer engagement, and resource distribution to ensure thoughtful and equitable allocation.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, OUTREACH & HEALING INITIATIVES
§ Provide outreach and communication to families, congregants, and staff regarding available resources, support services, educational opportunities, and updates related to recovery efforts.
§ Collaborate in the planning and support of memorials, commemorations, educational programming, healing opportunities, and annual observances for our Temple Israel community.
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT & PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION
§ Help manage recovery-related resources, programming needs, budgets, and expenditures connected to trauma response and community healing initiatives.
§ Grant writing, grant management, and fundraising experience related to recovery initiatives and wellness programming.
DOCUMENTATION, COMPLIANCE & ORGANIZATIONAL PARTICIPATION
§ Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation of services, assessments, referrals, and consultation activities.
§ Adhere to all federal, state, local, and organizational policies related to confidentiality, documentation, ethics, productivity, and professional conduct.
§ Regular and routine attendance as scheduled.
§ All other duties as assigned.
§ Participate in supervision, team meetings, professional development, and organizational initiatives.
§ Navigate a variety of environments: which may include sites with varying levels of accessibility, lighting, noise, crowd size, and seating availability.
§ Remain in a stationary position: for extended periods during meetings, trainings, or travel (seated or standing, depending on work setting and individual needs).

§ Use a computer and office equipment: for extended periods for documentation, correspondence, training preparation, and data entry, including use of adaptive or assistive technology as needed.
