Position Summary & Essential Duties

This position involves providing individual and group tutoring support to students across multiple academic subject areas and assisting students in improving overall academic achievement by:


  • Identifying academic skill gaps and helping students develop strategies to overcome them.
  • Assisting students with instructor-assigned coursework, homework, and projects to reinforce understanding of course content.
  • Guiding students in developing effective study skills, learning strategies, and habits to become stronger, more independent learners.
  • Supporting students in navigating online learning platforms and academic technologies.
  • Participating in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as required.

Qualifications (Required and Preferred)

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):


  • High School Diploma or High School equivalency.
  • Successful completion of college-level coursework in one or more academic subject areas with a grade of B or higher.

PREFERRED:
  • Associate’s Degree or higher.
  • Proficient in STEM courses
  • Six (6) months of directly related teaching, tutoring, or academic support experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will:


  • Provide educational supplementation across a variety of academic subjects, which may include but are not limited to mathematics, reading, writing, sciences, and other general education courses.
  • Assist students with both in-person and online learning platforms.
  • Support students in setting, monitoring, and achieving academic goals.
  • Deliver tutoring services that contribute to measurable educational improvement.
  • Evaluate student performance to assess skill development and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records as required.
  • Attend all directed meetings, seminars, workshops, and staff development trainings; occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Report to work regularly and on time.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time. May sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time. Must be able to facilitate data entry and keyboard manipulation.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in an office/computer lab setting.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Will vary based upon events. As determined by the program manager.

This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person, during prescribed work hours.

Varies, up to 19.5 hours per week.
