Temple Beth El, a vibrant Reform synagogue in Charlotte, is seeking a warm, organized, and highly dependable Clergy Assistant to support our clergy team and help deliver an exceptional congregational experience.
This is a high-trust role for someone who combines strong administrative ability with emotional intelligence, hospitality, and follow-through. The Clergy Assistant helps keep clergy operations running smoothly while supporting scheduling for our busy clergy team, lifecycle events, pastoral coordination, memorial observances, and major seasons of congregational life.
What You’ll Do
- Manage calendars, scheduling, meetings, correspondence, and other day-to-day clergy administration
- Support congregant communication related to worship, pastoral needs, lifecycle events, and memorial observances
- Prepare worship and holiday support materials, including slides, lists, and related documents
- Help coordinate practical details for services, rituals, and major clergy-led events
- Maintain accurate files, records, and tracking systems
- Support High Holy Day preparation and execution
- Work closely with clergy and staff to ensure a caring, responsive, and well-organized experience for congregants

- Strong administrative experience and outstanding organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
- A welcoming, service-oriented approach with the ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion
- Comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in a synagogue, church, nonprofit, or mission-driven setting is a plus
- Familiarity with Jewish customs and Reform congregational life is preferred, but strong candidates who are eager to learn are encouraged to apply
