Responsibilities
- Conduct ultrasonic shear wave testing on metallic and composite materials to detect internal flaws, cracks, and other discontinuities.
- Interpret data collected from ultrasonic inspections using schematics, analysis skills, and specialized equipment to assess material integrity.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings accurately and clearly for quality assurance purposes.
- Utilize hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and soldering equipment to prepare test surfaces and assemble testing setups according to specifications.
- Follow ASME codes & standards and industry best practices to ensure all inspections meet regulatory and safety requirements.
- Perform surface mount technology (SMT) inspections as part of quality control processes in manufacturing environments.
- Support quality inspection activities by analyzing schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation to verify compliance with specifications.
Experience
- Proven experience working as an NDT technician with a focus on ultrasonic shear wave testing within manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of non-destructive testing methods, including surface preparation, data collection, and flaw analysis.
- Familiarity with ASME codes & standards related to nondestructive testing and quality assurance procedures.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to assembly processes, schematics interpretation, and the use of hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and soldering tools.
- Experience performing quality control and quality assurance inspections with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation confidently.
