Assistant Band Coach
Job Description:
The position is responsible for coaching student performers in marching arts skills and techniques to prepare them for performance competition. The coach will be expected to develop and motivate student performers while fostering an appreciation of the activity and supporting the Director of Bands with assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
In-depth knowledge and skill level experience in the marching arts is preferred (e.g., WGI and/or DCI).
Previous coaching in the Marching Arts is preferred.
Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card.
Duties:
Receives clearance from the Great Oak Athletic Department and the Temecula Valley School District Office before interacting with student athletes.
Assesses performers skills and assigns appropriate skill-level work and drill in the performance field.
Coaches and instructs performers individually and in full subgroups, including the proper use and care of their equipment and performance techniques in the marching arts.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of student performers at all times.
Safety & Well-being: follows established procedures in the event of a student performer's injury.
SafeSport: follows State, Regional, and District regulations governing competitive marching arts programs (e.g. maintaining Keenan Trainings and WGI SafeSport Training).
Role Models professional behavior while maintaining appropriate conduct towards performers, adjudicators, and spectators.
Completes any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Band, Director of Percussion, Color Guard and/or winds while following the protocol of school Admin. including the Principal, Assistant Principal of Athletics, or other appropriate administrator.
