Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dental team. We are a small, single Doctor office located in Temecula. Most of our team has been here over 15 years! We are a close knit group and we strive on communication and working as a TEAM regardless of your title to provide excellent patient care everyday. The ideal candidate must have a passion for dentistry, be a team player, willing to learn and grow, is independent and can problem solve along with a strong understanding of dental procedures and terminology. This role involves assisting the dentist during various treatments, assisting hygiene with occasional Perio charting or x-rays if needed, sterilization of instruments, placing orders for the back office and ensuring a smooth workflow within the dental clinic.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Take and develop X-rays while adhering to safety protocols and HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records in Dentrix
- Conduct preliminary assessments including recording medical histories.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and post-operative care.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe environment.
- Support pediatric dentistry procedures by creating a comfortable atmosphere for young patients.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist to manage appointments and patient flow effectively.
- Stay updated on advancements in dental technology, including 3D scanning and medical imaging.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting, with familiarity in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics being highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using Dentrix software for managing patient records.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and coding practices.
- A solid understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques relevant to dental procedures.
