Responsibilities
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Set up and operate CNC machines such as lathes, mills, and grinders using CNC G-code programming and Fanuc controls.
- Program CNC machines utilizing CAM software and manual programming techniques to produce complex parts with high precision.
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement tools to ensure parts meet quality standards.
- Perform machine setup, calibration, and tooling changes efficiently to optimize production flow.
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to M-code, M-functions, and G-code programs; adjust parameters as needed for optimal performance.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols; operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment when necessary.
- Conduct quality inspections during and after machining processes to verify dimensional accuracy and surface finish using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying opportunities for process improvements and waste reduction.
- Assist in machine maintenance routines to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
Requirements
- Proven experience in CNC machining with proficiency in CNC lathe and milling operations.
- Strong knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or similar programs for interpreting mechanical blueprints.
- Skilled in CAM programming for efficient toolpath generation; familiar with Fanuc or other CNC control systems.
- Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus.
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately and interpret complex technical drawings.
- Familiarity with machining tools including grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and measurement instruments for quality control purposes.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of metal machining processes and tooling selection.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feeds, speeds, and conversions necessary for precise machining.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to machine operation, welding, forklift operation, and use of hand/power tools.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail.
