Our client is seeking an experienced Battery Field Service Engineer to support their growing operations throughout Virginia. This role is ideal for a skilled technician with hands-on experience in DC power systems, batteries, and chargers who enjoys fieldwork, problem-solving, and ensuring reliable power solutions for critical infrastructure.
Position Overview
The Battery Field Service Engineer will be responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and servicing industrial battery systems and chargers used in UPS and DC power applications. The role involves both independent work and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet project goals, ensure safety compliance, and deliver exceptional service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of DC power systems, industrial batteries, and charging equipment.
- Conduct field testing and diagnostics, evaluate results, and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Analyze battery performance data to identify trends, detect potential failures, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate asset and maintenance records within company systems and databases.
- Coordinate project logistics, materials, and schedules to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Ensure full compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and project managers to ensure clear expectations and timely project completion.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in battery system installation, DC power, or energy storage systems.
- Familiarity with electrical testing tools, diagnostic equipment, and safety standards.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently or supervise small teams.
- Willingness to travel daily within 1.5 hours of Ashburn, VA area; occasional overnight travel required.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and perform hands-on technical work.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to read and understand technical documentation.
Preferred Background
- Previous experience in telecommunications, utilities, or critical power industries.
- Technical certification or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
