Position Overview: The HR Manager is a vital member of our organization, responsible for overseeing all functional areas of HR to ensure the smooth operation of our human resources department. This role supports a workforce of 100 employees in the United States and 15 employees in Europe. The HR Manager will work closely with executives and managers to develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with the company's goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Foster positive employee relations by addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting a healthy work environment.
- Provide guidance and support to managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, performance management, and employee grievances.
Payroll
- Support department managers in the approval of time cards
- Processing of biweekly payroll
Recruitment
- Manage active job postings on job boards and screen qualified candidates by phone.
- Schedule in-person and remote interviews, administer background and reference checks; coordinate new hire onboarding.
Employee File Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance of employee files, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with legal requirements as well as internal requirements.
- Develop and implement recordkeeping procedures and guidelines.
Regulatory Filings
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required HR-related regulatory filings, such as EEO-1, Worker’s Comp Audit, US Census Reporting and other federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
- Oversee compliance of state and federal personnel and payroll regulations.
Compensation Planning
- Collaborate with managers to develop and implement effective compensation plans and structures to attract, retain, and motivate employees.
- Conduct salary analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitive compensation practices.
Benefit Plan Selection and Administration
- Oversee the selection and administration of employee benefit plans, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and keep abreast of industry trends to make recommendations for plan improvements.
- Manage the benefit enrollment process for new employees, existing employees, and oversees annual open enrollment.
401k Administration:
- Manage the 401k program, including plan administration, employee communication, and coordination with external service providers.
- Prepare and submit required 5500 reports in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Training and Development
- Work with managers to identify training needs and develop appropriate training programs to enhance employee skills and competencies.
- Coordinate and deliver training sessions as needed.
Employee Policy Development
- Develop, implement, and update employee policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and best practices.
- Ensure policies are communicated effectively to employees and consistently applied across the organization.
Leadership and Supervision
- Lead by example, demonstrating a servant leadership mindset and fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement.
Strategic Focus:
- Collaborate with executives to align HR strategies with overall business objectives.
- Present HR-related initiatives, proposals, and updates to the executive team and provide strategic recommendations based on HR best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a corporate HR environment, with experience in an HR leadership role
- SHRM certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
- Strong understanding of benefit plan administration, including 401k administration and reporting.
- Experience processing payroll
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a focus on servant leadership and leading by example.
- Strategic mindset and ability to think critically, develop HR strategies, and present to executives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in employee policy development and implementation.
- Proficient in HRIS systems and MS Office Suite.
