Summary: Oversees daily activities of the Nursery and provides the best quality daycare for children by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following and other duties as assigned.

  • Directly responsible for child check-out.
  • Actively participates in the check-in and check-out process by being available to answer any questions the parent's may have about their child's day.
  • Must have extensive knowledge about the program; giving the parents a tour of the facility and answering any questions.
  • Must provide excellent guest service and ensure that the rest of the staff does the same.
  • Assist the manager in training the child care attendants.
  • Participate in ongoing guest service, leadership, and child developmental training programs.
  • Maintains Nursery policies, procedures and programs.
  • Assists in creating the weekly schedule and is responsible for the adherence to the schedule.
  • Maintains a positive and informative attitude with all of the parents.
  • Encourages effective communication lines inter and intra-departmentally.
  • Develops, uses and sustains strong cooperative relationships with subordinates, peers, and superiors.
  • Assist in opening and closing the facility each scheduled day.
  • Collects childcare information from the parents to ensure quality care.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that the children's needs are met each day.
  • Encourages creativity and excitement within the Nursery.
  • Assists in developing and enacting age appropriate daily activities and menu.
  • Educated on all safety and liability issues. Ensures that all forms are completed correctly and ensures a child safe environment at all times.
  • Maintains proper child: staff ratio by staffing appropriately each day.
  • Develops proactive communication lines between the parents and the staff.
  • Work with manager on the recording and confirmation of advanced reservations.
  • Monitors food and supplies through bi-weekly inventory
  • Responsible for phone calls regarding the program.
  • Provides a guest experience that exceeds the guest’s expectations.
  • Supports Telluride Ski & Golf sustainability and safety initiatives.
  • Adheres to Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and adheres to Skier Responsibility Code and Colorado Skier Safety Act.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise a total of 10-15 employees in the Nursery. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education And/or Experience

  • Child development course work completed. Must meet the State of Colorado qualifications of a Lead Teacher. OR:
  • 2 years working in group child care, of unrelated children less than 6 years of age.
  • Management training required.
  • Annual PDIS Courses, Medication Administration Part 1 & 2
  • Infant and Child CPR and First Aid.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

Possession of strong computer skills are critical to successful performance in role. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Basic knowledge of RTP, HTML, and social media preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of child development from birth to age 5.
  • Must have dynamic people, management, communication and guest service skills.
  • Must have a high physical and mental energy level.
  • Quick reflexes and responses.
  • Ability to focus on many children at one time.
  • Able to work nights, weekend, holidays and overtime.
  • Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.
  • Must be able to function effectively in inclement weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feet. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms, climb and balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The wage for this position is $27.00/hr DOE
