Medical Assistant & Intake Specialist
Position Title: Medical Assistant & Intake Specialist
Location: Femrite Campus
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Outpatient Services Clinic Manager
Schedule: M–F, possible occasional evenings
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant & Intake Specialist plays a vital role in supporting patients through both clinical services and intake coordination. This position assists with medication management, patient visits, and injections while also serving as a key initial point of contact for individuals seeking mental health and substance use treatment services at Tellurian. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast-paced behavioral health environment are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Medical Support
- Manage medication refill requests and PDMP review
- Pend medication orders for provider signature
- Assist with psychiatric long-acting injectable medications
- Conduct vitals, brief histories, and urine drug screens
- Perform TB tests and maintain medical supply inventory
- Confirm medication lists and refill needs during visits
Patient Engagement
- Coordinate follow-up and appointment rescheduling
- Offer basic case management support
- Provide supportive interaction with patients in crisis when needed
Intake & Admissions
- Answer inquiries from patients and referral sources
- Explain program services and screen for appropriateness
- Assist with intake scheduling and admissions coordination
- Verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations
- Document thoroughly in EHR
Administrative & Front Desk Support
- Scan/upload records and manage clinic faxes
- Provide front desk coverage when needed
- Support other Femrite programs within MA scope
Qualifications
Required
- Completion of MA program CMA/RMA or ability to obtain
- Strong communication & organization skills
- Ability to work effectively with co-occurring disorders population
Preferred
- Behavioral health or addictions care experience
- Experience with insurance verification and admissions
