Senior RF Engineer

TeleWorld Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior RF Engineer/VoNR Optimization Engineer to lead performance analysis and optimization for a critical competitive benchmarking project in the New York Metro area. This project involves conducting drive testing across NYC, Long Island, Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam to evaluate VoNR performance against major competitors. The role is central to delivering actionable optimization recommendations to Verizon based on deep Layer 3 analysis.

The ideal candidate will leverage hands-on expertise in 5G RAN and Samsung-specific VoNR parameters to analyze competitive drive test data, identify performance gaps, and provide data-driven recommendations. You will be responsible for the end-to-end analysis of VoNR call flows, KPI calculation, and reporting insights that directly influence Verizon's network optimization strategy.

Competitive Benchmarking & Field Testing

• Conduct comprehensive competitive benchmarking of major mobile carriers across the New York Metro footprint, including NYC, Long Island, Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam County.
• Execute VoNR testing campaigns per predefined route plans using XCAL, automated scripts, GPS modules, and configured test devices.
• Ensure all devices are configured with VoNR-enabled profiles and validated for each assigned cluster.
  
  
  

UE Setup & Equipment Management

• Configure and maintain 12 UEs and SIMs across multiple carrier profiles.
• Utilize XCAL (with MOS) for data collection and XCAP (with MOS) for post-processing.
• Operate laptops loaded with XCAL kits (6 UEs per laptop), and manage scanner equipment with predefined Verizon frequencies.
  
  
  

Data Collection & Testing Execution

Perform VoNR and data session tests according to the following setup per carrier

Voice Testing

• Device 1 Long VoLTE/VoNR call (Reliability Test) - 120s call, 12s idle, includes MOS.
• Device 2 Short VoLTE/VoNR call (Availability Test) - 15s call, 12s idle.
  
  
  

Data Testing

• Device 3 Long Downlink Test - 120s DL, 12s idle, 10GB file (speed reliability Time-on-5G).
• Device 4 Long Uplink Test - 120s UL, 12s idle, 10GB file.
  
  
  

Data Processing & KPI Analysis

• Post-process VoNR and data logs using XCAP, extract KPIs, and analyze performance trends.
• Calculate VoNR KPIs including Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), Call Drop Rate (CDR), MOS/voice quality, and availability metrics.
• Conduct Layer 3 analysis for VoNR call flows, mobility, failures, and optimization opportunities.
• Provide data-driven recommendations for Verizon network improvements.
  
  
  

Reporting & Deliverables

• Generate clear, comprehensive summary reports highlighting
• Competitive VoNR benchmarking results
• KPI comparisons across all tested carriers
• Geographic performance visualization (maps, charts, tables)
• Optimization recommendations and findings
• Support final COP submission, client sign-off, and archiving of all project data and deliverables.
  

Required Qualifications

• 3-7 years of RF Engineering, RAN testing, or wireless performance experience.
• Hands-on experience with VoNR/VoLTE, drive testing, and KPI analysis.
• Proficiency with XCAL/XCAP, MOS tools, scanners, GPS modules, and multi-device testing setups.
• Strong knowledge of Layer 3 protocols, VoNR call flows, IMS, and NR mobility.
• Experience with competitive benchmarking or performance comparison projects.
• Ability to work in field-test conditions across the New York Metro region.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Verizon network frequencies, KPIs, and optimization methods.
• Experience with large-scale benchmarking projects involving multiple carriers.
• Familiarity with tools such as Nemo, TEMS, Actix, or XCAT.
• Experience with RF scanners and multi-UE test setups.
• Background in VoNR Layer 3 log analysis and root-cause troubleshooting.
