What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reliability Engineer position at Teledyne FLIR?
Summary:
Responsible for Reliability/Quality Engineering activities supporting the manufacture of FLIR Un-Cooled Camera Systems as well as other projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contributes to product development as a sustaining team member supporting FLIR’s Un-Cooled Camera System level products.
- Conducts product and process qualification planning, testing and reporting for new designs and processes.
- Responsible for fielded reliability metrics and reporting.
- Supports supplier component qualification.
- Coordinates containment and corrective action for non-conforming material.
- Acts as primary Quality and Reliability Representative with suppliers and customers.
- Leads regular quality status & improvement meetings.
- Conducts Failure/Trend Analysis and Analytical Problem Solving, and recommends and implements corrective actions.
- Generates quality procedures and work instructions as needed.
- Travels as required to suppliers, customers and/or outside labs as needed.
- Position may also support other FLIR Systems products in a project capacity including conducting environmental testing, special inspections, failure analysis and reporting.

Essential Functions:
- Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to travel up to 10%.
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing using the English language.
- Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
Education and Experience:
- BS in Engineering or Technical discipline required.
- Experience with complex electronic circuit failure analysis desired.
- Six-Sigma training and / or certification preferred.
- Lean manufacturing knowledge preferred
- Knowledge and experience in the following is preferred:
- IR or similar technology
- Quality systems ala ISO 9001:2015
- Problem solving methodology and failure analysis tools
- Statistical process control
- Measurement system analysis (Gage R&R)
- Supplier quality
- Hand’s on optical and mechanical inspection skills
- Electro-mechanical shaker systems and environmental chambers
- MS Office applications (must be proficient with Excel)
- Statistical and reliability software applications
