Teledyne FLIR in Elkridge is a manufacturer of high-tech robotic and security systems. The Quality Inspector performs receiving inspection of metal fabricated & machined parts and electronic components, reviews and/or performs First Article Inspections (FAIs), and assists with processing/dispositioning nonconforming product. This position is critical to the success of the quality and schedule of production processes.

Job Summary:
Teledyne FLIR in Elkridge is a manufacturer of high-tech robotic and security systems. The Quality Inspector performs receiving inspection of metal fabricated & machined parts and electronic components, reviews and/or performs First Article Inspections (FAIs), and assists with processing/dispositioning nonconforming product. This position is critical to the success of the quality and schedule of production processes.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect parts in accordance with receiving inspection instructions. Inspections consist of inspection to prints, visual inspections, tests, etc. Will ensure FAIs have been completed when necessary, and work with Procurement/Quality team on failed FAIs or incoming inspections.
- Review Nonconforming Material Tags, enter them into Nonconforming System, and take appropriate actions (quarantine, review with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, etc.).
- Enter inspection results and data into SharePoint and SAP, generate reports for organization on supplier performance.
- Use first article package requirements to verify vendor part quality.
- Use hand-tools for measurements.
- Read mechanical prints for inspections.
- Work with various teams and effectively communicate with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and outside Vendors to resolve issues with parts/products.
- Other duties as assigned and business needs dictate.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 - 5 years of prior experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of GD&T strongly preferred.
- Familiar with reviewing First Article Inspection (FAI) documents from suppliers.
- Able to read mechanical prints.
- Able to use calipers, micrometers, depth gauges and other measurement tooling.
- Knowledgeable about various welding types, weld processes, and how to use weld gauges.
- Familiar with metal working, fasteners, and machine shop processes.
- Experience using Keyence Optical Comparators a plus.
- Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to prioritize.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able and willing to occasionally lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, crawl under vehicles for inspection purposes and consistently stand for long periods of time.
