Principal Analog Design Engineer with a track record of designing high-performance analog circuits, with some experience designing open/closed loop servo controllers. Candidates should also possess technical expertise in analog and sensor signal conditioning circuits, microprocessor systems, programmable and discrete digital logic, power supply circuitry, electrical/electronic interfacing systems, and a general understanding of systems embedded software functionality.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Ideal candidate will have experience with:
- Low Noise Analog Circuit Design: Provide technical expertise in the development and design of low-noise analog conditioning circuits, including interface circuits for fiber optic gyros, resolver, and accelerometer sensors. Should be familiar with application of high-resolution analog to digital and digital to analog converters.
- Precision Control Systems: Designing analog circuits tailored for precision servo and motion control applications, ensuring accurate positioning and smooth operation.
- Feedback Loops: Implement low noise high accuracy feedback loops for sensors such as encoders, resolvers and fiber optic gyro’s to enable closed-loop control in servo systems, enhancing performance and accuracy.
- Motor Drive Interfaces: Create interfaces for brushed and brushless (BLDC) motor drive circuits, including power amplifiers and PWM controllers, to achieve optimal motion control in diverse applications.
- Power Supply Circuitry: Develop low and medium power point of load linear and switching power supplies to meet design requirements, optimizing efficiency and stability.
- Electrical/Electronic Interfacing: Create robust electrical/electronic interfacing systems, including CAN bus, I2C, RS422, and high-speed LVDS with considerations for good signal integrity.
- Systems Embedded Software: Possess a general understanding of systems embedded software functionality, enabling effective collaboration with software engineers and ensuring hardware-software co-design.
- Component Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate components, including operational amplifiers, voltage regulators, and passive components, based on project requirements.
- Testing and Validation: Develop test plans and procedures, and work with the engineering team to validate and characterize analog designs, resolving any issues that arise.
- PCB Layout Support: Work closely with PCB layout designers to provide guidance and support to ensure proper placement and routing of analog components.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
Required Job Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of analog design principles, including amplifiers, filters, voltage references, and data converters
- Strong knowledge of power supply design using either linear and switching topologies
- Experience with mixed-signal design and integration
- Experience with PCB design and layout considerations for analog and power circuits.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience using oscilloscopes and other lab equipment
- Experience with CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium, Siemens PADS experience)
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Experience with Block Diagram software packages such as Visio and/or Autocad

- Experience managing outside design houses when resources are thin

Education and Experience:
- Due to program requirements candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree
- Minimum 12 years’ experience of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Other engineering or science degree considered with strong experience in, and emphasis on, electronics design and systems
