What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Technology Project Engineer position at TeleCom Business Solutions, Inc.?
IT Project Engineer (Systems & Networking)
Managed Services / MSP
Position Summary
We’re looking for an IT Project Engineer to lead the implementation of client IT environments—from onboarding new customers to upgrading existing systems.
This is a project-focused role, not a day-to-day support position.
You’ll be responsible for building and deploying servers, networks, and core IT infrastructure across multiple client environments. You’ll own your projects from start to finish, ensure everything is set up clean and secure, and hand off well-built environments to the Service Desk for ongoing support.
The right person enjoys building systems, takes ownership of their work, and can stay organized across multiple projects without losing attention to detail.
What You’ll Do
Project Execution & Implementation
- Lead and execute IT projects including client onboarding, migrations, and system upgrades
- Build and deploy environments including Microsoft 365, identity, security, and core infrastructure
- Configure servers, networks, firewalls, and related systems to align with best practices
- Implement and standardize managed services tools (RMM, endpoint security, backup, etc.)
Project Ownership
- Own projects from kickoff through completion
- Ensure systems are configured properly, secured, documented, and ready for long-term support
- Deliver clean, consistent, and scalable environments
Coordination & Delivery
- Work with internal teams to plan timelines and coordinate resources
- Communicate clearly with clients on progress, expectations, and next steps
- Keep projects organized, on track, and well-documented
Technical Support & Escalation (as needed)
- Step in on complex issues related to project work
- Troubleshoot problems beyond standard Service Desk scope
- Ensure smooth transition from implementation to support
Team Collaboration
- Work alongside Service Desk and other engineers to support successful outcomes
- Provide guidance to technicians assisting on projects
- Help maintain consistency in how environments are built and delivered
What We’re Looking For
Project & MSP Experience
- Experience implementing IT environments in an MSP or client-facing setting
- Comfortable with onboarding, migrations, and system rollouts—not just support tickets
Systems & Networking
- Working knowledge of servers, networking, and infrastructure concepts
- Experience with firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, switching, and core network configuration
- Strong understanding of how systems and networks fit together in a client environment
Microsoft & Core Platforms
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and user/device management
- Comfortable configuring identity, access, security policies, and core services
Project Ownership
- Able to manage multiple projects and priorities without losing track of details
- Takes ownership from start to finish—not just assigned tasks
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Strong troubleshooting skills across systems and environments
- Able to work independently and escalate when appropriate
Communication
- Communicates clearly with both technical teams and non-technical clients
- Sets expectations, follows through, and keeps people informed
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience working in an MSP environment
- Exposure to project coordination or structured delivery
- Familiarity with security tools and best practices
- Microsoft or other relevant technical certifications
