Position Overview

Telcom is seeking an experienced Senior Access Control Technician to lead the installation, service, and troubleshooting of commercial access control and security systems. This position requires a highly motivated technician who can work independently, lead field crews, train junior technicians, and serve as a technical resource on access control projects.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience installing and servicing access control systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to manage projects from startup through customer turnover.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial access control systems.
• Lead field crews on access control projects and ensure installations meet company quality standards.
• Train and mentor junior technicians.
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Install and terminate low-voltage cabling related to access control systems.
• Install and configure door hardware including strikes, maglocks, request-to-exit devices, card readers, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, wiring, and network connectivity issues.
• Coordinate with project managers, customers, and other trades to ensure successful project completion.
• Complete project documentation, testing reports, and punch list items.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional job site.
• Provide exceptional customer service and represent Telcom professionally at all times.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commercial access control installation and service experience.
• Strong understanding of access control system architecture, door hardware, and low-voltage wiring.
• Experience independently troubleshooting access control systems.
• Ability to lead crews and oversee project execution.
• Experience reading construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Avigilon ACM, Openpath, Paxton, Verkada, Lenel, Genetec, or similar commercial access control platforms.
• Experience with IP networking and network troubleshooting.
• Experience with commercial video surveillance systems.
• BICSI, manufacturer certifications, OSHA certification, or other industry credentials.
• Experience supervising technicians or leading project teams.
