At TelCom Construction, LLC, as a Safety Specialist, under the direction of the Sr. Safety Manager and the Director of Safety and Risk, this position is responsible for maintaining compliance with all aspects of the Company Safety Program. These duties include assisting with the activities of the Sr. Safety Manager, Safety Manager and Regional Safety Analysts, general administrative functions for the Safety Department and serving as a liaison between field employees and the Safety department.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintains driver qualification files including obtaining and reviewing files upon hire and as documents expire;
  • Maintaining a high level of communication internally regarding driver status updates and safety compliance;
  • Accurately classifies and enters new employees into various systems and communications compliance issues to internal stakeholders;
  • Reviews Motor Vehicle Reports upon hire and annually thereafter to determine driving eligibility;
  • Updates and disseminates various safety compliance reports;
  • Acts as secretary for multiple company safety committees;
  • In conjunction with Safety leadership, sets up and tracks required drug testing including random tests, reasonable-suspicion tests, and follow-up tests;
  • Processes invoices for drug testing and DOT physicals;
  • Manages inventory and distribution of safety equipment and PPE;
  • Aids in managing the SDS program;
  • Analyzes safety compliance data to find trends and make recommendations to the Sr. Safety Manager or Safety Director;
  • All other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 6 months of administrative experience is required.
  • Some knowledge of construction safety or the telecommunications industry is preferred;
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, correspondence and memos;
  • Effective and respectful written and verbal communication with all applicable stakeholders, both internal and external, at all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to apply reasoning and understanding to solve practical problems;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with a strong attention to detail;
  • Proficient use of computer hardware and software including but not limited to Internet software and databases. Familiarity with Googled-based applications is preferred;
  • Understanding and use of general arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, units of measure and weight using whole numbers, fractions and decimals;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends as needed;
  • Self-motivated and driven with the ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimum guidance;
  • Valid driver’s license with favorable driving record required.

  • Frequent sitting, standing and/or walking as required;
  • Occasionally bend, squat, kneel or twist;

  • Frequently perform routine and repetitive tasks with hands, arms, feet and/or legs including use of computer keyboard, mouse, and phone;
  • Occasionally be in a moderately noisy environment;
  • Ability to safely wear job-specific PPE including but not limited to: eye, hearing, head, respiratory and foot protection as well as appropriate high-visibility clothing.

The wage range for Safety Specialist is $22.00 - $26.00.
