TELAMON-TRC COMMITMENT TO TRAUMA INFORMED CARE:

Telamon-TRC has taken steps to shift our organization into a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) model. This changes our perceptions about the individuals that we work with, employees and customers, including families and children. A trauma-informed system of care provides services that empower employees and customers, including families and children, to feel safe, welcomed and engaged at all levels of organizational interaction. Exchanges that could be potentially retraumatizing, or trigger traumatic reactions require thoughtfulness and non-judgement. Ongoing, as an organization, we collaborate to educate employees about the effects of violence, victimization and trauma on individuals. This model supports a culture of safety for employees and customers, including families and children.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Works with families to build relationships that support family well-being, strong relationships between parents and their children, and ongoing learning and development for both parents and children. Collaborates with community partners to build peer networks, link families and children to needed services, and support successful transitions for children and families.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supports outreach and enrollment efforts by communicating the program's eligibility, selection, and enrollment policies and practices to families, other service providers, and the general public. Recruits children by coordinating with and accessing a wide range of community contacts and resources and engaging them in the recruitment process.

  2. Prepares intake/enrollment applications, documents eligibility information, and determines eligibility for the Program and USDA programs.

  3. Engages families as full partners by helping families develop and reach realistic and achievable long-and short-term goals, engaging them in assessing their needs and strengths, and supporting them in taking actions to reach their goals.

  4. Supports families in addressing challenges (e.g., mental illness, substance abuse, disabilities, family violence) that affect their well-being, by discussing issues and/or linking them to community resources.

  5. Works collaboratively with a range of specialists (e.g., medical, dental, speech, nutrition, mental health) by sharing child and family information, identifying approaches to solving issues, and developing follow-up plans.

  6. Assumes responsibility for primary health care of assigned children at the center level in states where applicable. Prepares and maintains all required health records on enrolled children.

  7. Where assigned and trained, administers medications in accordance with policy. Provides first aid when needed.

  8. Where applicable, schedules health and dental examinations with contracted physicians and dentists. Provides or arranges for transportation for appointments or emergencies as needed.

  9. Where applicable, participates and/or conducts screenings on children, including children with disabilities, as well as in developing individual service and health plans.

  10. Provides information and education to parents and the community about available programs and other community resources. This can be done in-person, by telephone or a group presentation format.

  11. Meets federal, state, and program documentation requirements by maintaining accurate, objective, complete, timely, and well-organized child and family records.

  12. Develops and sustains relationships with families by maintaining frequent contact (e.g., home visits, phone calls, informal contacts) with them. Tracks progress toward child and family goals established informal plans (e.g., family partnership agreement, IEP, IFSP) by reviewing and documenting family achievements.

  13. Promotes a unified approach to sharing child information with families by engaging in joint planning with teachers and other specialists to prepare for home visits and other family contacts. Participates in case management and transition meetings.

  14. The person in this position must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  15. Protects the safety of children by ensuring the implementation of active supervision techniques to ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised at any time.

  16. Ensures the mobilization and documentation of matching/in-kind funds.

  17. Works in cooperation with supervisor to develop and document progress on professional development plan. Actively engages in professional development activities to increase qualifications in accordance with Corporation's Core Values.

  18. May perform duties of other staff members (Teacher, Bus Monitor, Center Aide, Teacher's Assistant) intime of staff shortage.

  19. Fills in on a temporary basis for facility staff when the staff member needs to leave the classroom for a short duration.

  20. Attends center and home base functions such as staff meetings, parent meetings and special events.

  21. Plans and implements parent meetings and training sessions.

  22. Work may require the flexibility to stay until all children have left the program.

  23. May translate.

  24. Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no direct supervisory duties but is expected to train or explain work procedures to others.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience Requirements:

Job Code 462 / Grade E6A

  • High School or GED is required and ability to obtain the Family Services credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field within18 months of hire.

Job Code 465 / Grade E6B

  • An Associates in Social Work or related field* is desired.

Job Code 468 / Grade E6C

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field* is desired.

  • If candidate does not have a degree, within eighteen months of hire they must obtain a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.

  • Pay may be commensurate with education.

  • Must be able to get certification for CPR and First Aid after hire and recertify as required.

  • Must have a willingness to work towards any additional credential needed to move to the next level in the position, this may include continued education.

  • Minimum of one year of related work experience.

  • Experience providing adult training and education preferred.

  • Must have own transportation, a valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance.

  • Degree in a related field is defined as an associate, baccalaureate or advanced degree in a field other than social work that either includes or is supplemented by twelve (12) college credits in social services, family services or human services.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Microsoft Office products and on-line client management systems.

  • Bilingual ability may be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work is performed mostly inside the facility.

  • Sitting walking, stooping, squatting, lifting (up to30 lbs), carrying, pushing and climbing.

  • Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.

  • Riding in a bus for prolong periods of time with noise and vibration.

  • Keyboarding and data entry, use of telephone.

  • Conduct outreach and home visits to customer residences, exposure to potentially unsafe environments, climb stairs.

  • Regular attendance for this position required, as regular attendance ensures we are providing the services we have committed to provide to the children and families we serve.

Background Checks:

  • All employees are subject to both a pre-hire and an annual background check. Specific rules by Area of Focus will indicate whether a state or federal fingerprint background check (or both) is required and the frequency. A fingerprint background check may suffice for a regular background check. Additional background checks may be required such as the Child Abuse and Neglect State Registry, and the Sex Offender Registry.

Positions that Require Driving:

  • Telamon Corporation / TRC employees that are required to drive a personal vehicle for work-related duties are to meet the auto insurance liability requirement. The minimum limits required are $100,000 each person bodily injury, $300,000 each accident bodily injury and $50,000 property damage. The insurance liability requirement covers use of an employee's personal vehicle.

  • Telamon Corporation/TRC employees that drive a company-owned/rental vehicle must maintain a satisfactory annual motor vehicle record check.

  • Must have own transportation, a valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance.
