Shift: Monday To Friday from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM

Pay Range: $25 to $32 – Depending on experience

Summary

The Scientist II /Senior Laboratory Scientist will conduct active laboratory research under the mentorship of a PhD scientist while developing advanced scientific and technical skills in the area of electron emission. The role will involve setting up and running experiments, operating specialized laboratory and electronic equipment, collecting and analyzing experimental data, supporting software and instrument development, troubleshooting laboratory equipment, and communicating research findings to scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set up and conduct laboratory experiments.
• Operate high-voltage power supplies, low-current ammeters, ultra-high-vacuum systems, and electronic lab equipment.
• Perform thermal imaging and monitor experiments.
• Collect I/V curve data from electron emitters.
• Conduct noise, energy spread, and brightness measurements.
• Use SEM and FIB systems for imaging and surface analysis.
• Run thermal, electrical, and electron-emission computer simulations.
• Analyze experimental data and evaluate emitter performance.
• Assist with data acquisition and analysis software development.
• Develop and test laboratory and instrument-control software.
• Develop and characterize automated electron-source control software.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment.
• Work with scientists and engineers to diagnose equipment problems.
• Communicate research results accurately and present work at internal seminars.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences is required and
• Molecular Biology degree is preferred.
• Ability to set up and perform laboratory experiments and collect experimental data.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret experimental results.
• Ability to accurately document and communicate scientific findings.
• Ability to learn and operate specialized laboratory, electronic, and analytical equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment and work collaboratively with scientists and engineers.
• Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis techniques such as curve fitting, regression, and image processing.
• Ability to support software development and testing for laboratory and instrument control applications.
• Ability to perform or support computer simulations involving thermal transport, electrical transport, and/or electron emission.
• Strong scientific communication and presentation skills.
