Mechanical Design Engineer – Commercial Building Design
Tekton Engineering is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to complement our team in Berlin, Ohio. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Specialize in the design and implementation of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical systems for new building projects- including commercial, retail, industrial and mixed-use projects.
· Support preparation of construction drawings, specifications and engineering documents.
· Perform basic engineering calculations including: HVAC load, ventilation, equipment sizing, pipe and duct sizing.
· Utilize AutoCAD and/or Revit to assist in drafting and BIM modeling.
· Coordinate mechanical systems with electrical, plumbing and structural disciplines to optimize layouts and enhance functionality, resulting in efficient and cohesive solutions tailored to meet project specifications.
· Review equipment submittals and product data
· Assist with field surveys, site visits, and construction observations as needed
· Help maintain project schedules and organization of design documents
· Develop innovative mechanical designs that meet industry standards and client specifications, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations including: International Mechanical Code (IMC), International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), ASHRAE standards, local jurisdiction requirements and other applicable codes.
Education, Skills and Qualifications:· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
· Interest in HVAC and commercial building systems design
· Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
· Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred
· Strong analytical skills and a collaborative spirit are essential, as you will work closely with interdepartmental teams to address challenges and optimize designs
· Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
