What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Systems Technician position at TEKsystems?
*Description*
They will be installing IP cameras, card access systems, smoke detectors, motion detectors, and security systems mostly. Techs should have an electronics experience or a good mechanical aptitude. Must be proficient at running and terminating low voltage cabling (CAT-5, 6) and multi -wiring (twisted, speaker wire). Candidates will possess a high work ethic as well as show high initiative.
1. Looking to fill a lead technician role (Tech 3) to manage subcontractors and handle access control, video surveillance, and other security systems.
2. The ideal candidate should have extensive field experience and be able to deploy systems with minimal supervision, rather than needing training.
3. Managing subcontractors and attention to detail for documentation are also key requirements.
4. Certifications like AMAG and Software House are preferred but not mandatory.
5. The role involves some residential work, such as understanding cable pathways in renovated buildings.
6. The majority of the work is access control (70%) with the rest being video surveillance and some intrusion, intercom, and wireless backhaul.
7. Upcoming data center projects with companies like Facebook, Amazon, and Equinix will require experience with dust shrouds and other data center protocols.

2 Installation of IP Cameras
3 Installation of access control systems
2. Proficient with using Scissor lifts
3. Experience installing Projectors or A/V Equipment
*Additional Skills & Qualifications:* Communication and professionalism must be very high for candidates
* Install various network cabling infrastructure in a data center environment including but not limited to structured cabling (CAT 3/CAT 5/CAT 6 copper, fiber and coaxial), patch panels and wire management systems.
* Coordinate, install and test premises equipment in a data center environment including but not limited to PDU's, computers, switches, routers, optics, wireless access points, and other transport equipment.
* Utilize industry standard cable test procedures and equipment for various cabling systems including wire mapping, OTDR, Network Analyzer, Visual Fault Locator.
* Device rack and stack
* Hard drive installation and replacement
* Conducting various media testing including fiber and copper using a multitude of testing equipment

This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.
*Pay and Benefits*
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
