Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Material Purchasing Assistant to support daily purchasing operations and help ensure a consistent supply of materials from approved suppliers. We are seeking a detail-oriented Material Purchasing Assistant to support daily purchasing operations and help ensure a consistent supply of materials from approved suppliers. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and comfortable working with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and ERP systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders based on system demands, requisitions, and planner requirements.
- Confirm supplier receipt of purchase orders and obtain order acknowledgments.
- Monitor and follow up on open purchase orders, delivery schedules, and past-due materials.
- Update purchase order information, including dates, quantities, pricing, and delivery details within the ERP system.
- Expedite materials as necessary to support production, inventory, and customer requirements.
- Communicate material availability, supplier updates, and delivery risks to planning, operations, customer service, and purchasing teams.
- Assist in resolving invoice discrepancies involving pricing, quantities, receipts, and purchase orders.
- Partner with Receiving, Accounts Payable, Planning, and Suppliers to resolve transactional issues.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier correspondence, and order documentation.
- Support shortage reviews, open-order reporting, and routine purchasing activities.
- Escalate supplier performance concerns, supply constraints, contractual issues, and pricing challenges to purchasing leadership as needed.
