What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Designer position at TEKsystems?
Description
This position is responsible for the assessment, development, and evaluation of customer training as a critical component of customer experience. Additionally, this position provides coordination, support, and analysis for multiple projects in coordination for External Affairs.
Technical Capabilities – Must Also Be Proficient With The Following
Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and adapt to changing and evolving work environment and priorities
Leverage customer experience tools, templates, and frameworks (i.e. programming, unified pipeline approach, lifecycle management)
Demonstrates skills in Articulate Storyline, RISE and other creative software
Business Acumen – Has an awareness of MISO Stakeholders, MISO’s role in the industry and the ability to distinguish the different MISO market segments.
Computer Skills – Must have intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. Must also have a foundation of intuitive email, operating systems, and use of virtual conferencing platforms (Webex, Teams, Zoom).
Critical Thinking/Analytical Ability – Strong analytical skills enabling comprehension of complex business scenarios; including the ability to define problems, collect & analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Customer Experience – Ability to provide an excellent customer experience to both internal and external clients.
Effective Communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, policies and procedures. Ability to articulate in writing detailed concepts and to present information to a variety of audiences in a clear and concise manner. Ability to coordinate across the organization to complete projects on time.
Emotional Intelligence – Ability to recognize, understand and manage your own emotions while recognizing, understanding, influencing and connecting to the emotions of others.
Operational Excellence – Collaborate with others to identify efficiencies and process improvements. Embrace change and the focus on continuous improvement.

The spot could get extended past 10 months or possibly has a chance of converting full time.
Looking to bring in a contractor to help the team because the volume of training externally is changing. Need someone to come in and be a 2nd set of hands. This will be an Instructional Designer. Someone with experience with external customers. Need to be able to use Articulate, create courses, work with SMEs, collaborate with business areas. Not just contact creation for courses but also guides. Some video work in there. Just depends upon the Instructional Designer.
They view this as more of a junior position. Someone who is handed a development guide then develop content from it. Background in video editing or Adobe that would be a bonus. Adobe Creative Suite. 4 days in the office with 1 floating day the person gets to choose. Would like to see someone with 2-3 years experience.
Type of content: End users can be anyone external to their company. People who work in utility industry, people who do transactions within their markets. Run the whole energy world ecosystem around energy and payments/settlements. Coming from mechanical or energy industry would be relevant. Mostly doing editing and things that are already created. As they learn more they can get more projects to build their skill sets. Will not be conducting any of the training. It would be great if we can submit a portfolio or sample work.
