We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Entry-Level Cabling Technician to support structured cabling installations within a data center environment. This role is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in IT infrastructure, networking, or data center operations, offering hands-on experience with copper and fiber cabling systems.
What You’ll Do
- Install, route, and secure copper and fiber optic cabling within a data center
- Assist with terminating and testing Ethernet and fiber connections
- Label cables and maintain accurate documentation of installations
- Support rack and stack activities, including patch panel and equipment setup
- Perform cable management to maintain clean and organized pathways
- Use basic testing tools to verify connectivity and performance
- Identify and report cabling issues or defects
- Follow all safety and operational procedures
- Work closely with data center technicians, engineers, and project teams
- High school diploma or GED
- Interest in IT, networking, or data center operations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, technical environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, climbing ladders)
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Reliable, with good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic knowledge of structured cabling systems
- Familiarity with Ethernet, patch panels, and cable types (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber)
- Experience with hand tools and installation work
- Data center or construction environment exposure
- OSHA 10 or similar safety certification
