We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer to support the design and documentation of physical security systems for commercial and enterprise clients. The ideal candidate has strong AutoCAD skills, understands construction documents, and collaborates effectively with sales, engineering, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed CAD drawings for physical security systems, including:
- Access control
- Video surveillance (CCTV)
- Intrusion detection
- Intercom and other low-voltage systems
- Produce floor plans, riser diagrams, device layouts, detail sheets, and as-built drawings
- Interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to ensure accurate system placement
- Coordinate with sales engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure designs align with project scope and customer requirements
- Update drawings based on redlines, field feedback, and change orders
- Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, local codes, and project specifications
- Maintain CAD standards, templates, and organized file structures
- Support pre-sales design efforts and post-installation documentation as needed
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical or similar preferred)
- 2 years of experience creating CAD drawings for low-voltage, physical security, or systems integration projects
- Strong understanding of construction documentation and floor plan interpretation
- Working knowledge of physical security systems and components
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Background in cable installation or field work
- Hands-on experience with low-voltage installations
- Familiarity with access control systems, VMS platforms, and device manufacturers
- Knowledge of basic electrical principles and structured cabling standards
- Experience with Bluebeam, Visio, or BIM coordination
- Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, drafting, or a related field preferred
