Description:
The company has identified over 100 sites that have some combination or all of: security vulnerabilities, no ownership, running outdated PHP code, outdated plugins and other software that is no longer supported.
We need to engage with these site owners to offer our Pantheon WordPress Hosting platform as an option to migrate their unsupported site. If they choose to move their site to our Pantheon platform, the person in this role will evaluate their current site for what can and cannot be replicated in Pantheon.
This role will work to migrate the site to our supported platform and set up their site with the supported options and what was agreed upon with the site owners. This will involve some manual migration (cutting and pasting) as well as some layouting and design work.
This role will update the site owner as well as our Pantheon lead regarding the status of the migration on a regular basis. This person will alert service owner lead with any difficulty or issues involved with the migration and we will work to a resolution as a team.
Day to Day Tasks:
- Meet independently with faculty to gather requirements and an understanding of the current project / site needs and propose a migration plan.
- Rebuild, import, migrate, and renovate public-facing websites within WordPress multisite network from a self-hosted environment.
- Using UX skills to examine site layout; usability; architecture, and consider user roles to propose changes and improvements in a migration to WordPress.
- Use web design skills and a deep understanding of WordPress functionality to problem solve and reimagine the rebuilding of a site from static html pages or an outdated platform into WordPress as part of a multisite network.
- Migrate content into a new subsite via copy / paste or site import.
- Modernize and improve upon the design of outdated sites using WordPress blocks patterns, plugins, and theme options.
- Suggest alternatives to content and functionality from previous sites that better
- Communicate directly with faculty, staff, and stakeholders on process for site migration, status & timeline, and any arising issues.
- Have a clear understanding of the mission of this transition from single install self-hosted websites into a supported, managed multisite network using WordPress in order to be able to communicate effectively with site owners.
- Meet with the site owners for project updates, training, and follow up with faculty to close the loop on projects.
- Balance multiple projects under various timelines
- Report status updates, issues, troubleshooting etc. to Service Owner.
- Work directly with service owner for 3rd party plugin integrations, system questions, issues. Talking through possible solutions for functionality issues.
