Position Overview

This role involves performing professional-level telecommunications work, including establishing new telephone services, modifying existing services, and coordinating relocations. The specialist will evaluate system needs, work directly with vendors, and ensure that all telecommunications solutions meet operational, technical, and cost-effectiveness requirements. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple technical tasks are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess organizational telephone needs, including required stations, call volume, and feature sets such as call forwarding, paging, intercom, and transfer capabilities.
• Evaluate the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of existing telephone systems and recommend improvements.
• Serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and telecommunications vendors.
• Assist in preparing proposals, reviewing technical bids, and providing recommendations for system upgrades or new services.
• Negotiate with vendors regarding telecommunications products, services, and pricing.
• Coordinate installation, modification, and relocation of telephone services, ensuring work is completed accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain ongoing communication with departments to ensure service quality and resolve deficiencies.
• Stay current with industry developments through training, seminars, and professional development opportunities.
• Provide expert analysis on system configuration, installation, and maintenance.
• Deliver training to technicians and staff on telecommunications equipment and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a business-related field, or
• Associate degree plus equivalent job-related experience (1:1 substitution), or
• High school diploma plus extensive job-related experience.

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders for extended periods.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

This is a Contract position based out of Frankfort, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
