Core Responsibilities
- System Installation: Feed low-voltage cables through walls and mount hardware such as control panels, keypads, door contacts, and cameras.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Test circuits, backup batteries, and sensors. Trace and resolve wiring or hardware faults to restore full system functionality.
- Site Assessment: Read building blueprints and wiring schematics to determine optimal equipment placement and ensure installations adhere to electrical and fire safety codes.
- Client Consultation & Training: Educate customers on how to arm and disarm systems, change passwords, and understand how various features function.
- Documentation: Complete service tickets, installation reports, and paperwork to track inventory and work hours.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with an understanding of low-voltage electronics.
- Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift heavy equipment (>50 lbs), work on ladders, and use standard hand and power tools.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to consult with clients effectively.
- Licensing: A valid driver's license with a clean record is required. Many roles also require or prefer industry certifications such as NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies)
