About the role
Be the go-to expert who keeps the Haywood Company facility running by installing, maintaining, and restoring critical electrical and control systems.
Core impact
- Own end-to-end electrical work: installation, service, and repair across production areas.
- Model safe work practices and strictly follow all safety procedures.
- Diagnose circuits with electrical test equipment; verify findings and document results.
- Lay out and install conduit, wire, breakers, fuses, motor starters, and motors per NEC.
- Install, service, replace, and repair instrumentation and electronics.
- Calibrate and record results for instrumentation, scales, and balances.
- Specify, deploy, and troubleshoot AC/DC motors and variable-frequency/drive systems.
- Troubleshoot PLCs using ladder logic and system documentation; understand PLC operations.
- Execute PMs on electrical equipment and complete thorough work order documentation.
- Build/wire control cabinets directly from drawings and schematics.
- Interpret manuals, technical bulletins, and electrical schematics accurately.
- Operate a forklift, scissor lift, and Genie boom when tasks require elevation or material handling.
- Plan, organize, and independently drive tasks to completion on time.
- Maintain and bring the right tools/meters; keep plant and shop areas clean.
- Respond to priority needs and work overtime on short notice as required.
Required background
- Valid driver’s license.
- Electrical Trade School certificate or a minimum of 3 years of relevant electrical experience.
Physical requirements
- Lift 30 pounds overhead at least four times during an 8-hour period.
- Climb and perform tasks while on a ladder.
Technical proficiency snapshot
- PLC troubleshooting, wiring, and programming exposure.
- Electrical schematics: reading, interpretation, and application.
- Industrial electrical systems, diagnostics, and repair (including heavy equipment).
- Commercial/industrial electrical expertise; conduit bending and panel work.
- Automation troubleshooting for industrial equipment; relay testing.
- Electrical panel installation; equipment installation and wiring.
