Location- Warren, NJ (100 % Remote but will need 2 days onsite every quarter)

Summary-
The Business Analyst is responsible for understanding, analyzing, and documenting business needs and translating needs into user stories, ensuring clarity of requirements. The Business analyst works closely with the Product Owner and plays a critical role as a liaison between IT developers and the business, and mentors the business toward best practices in system utility. The Business Analyst documents business, functional and non-functional requirements ensuring tractability into test strategies and plans, and supports the business users during testing and implementation.
Job Description-
Elicit and Document Requirements 40%
- Collaborate with stakeholders and Product Owners to gather detailed business requirements, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of project objectives and goals
- Translate business needs into clear, concise user stories and functional spcifications, incorporating acceptance criteria and maintaining proper documentation
- Conduct thorough analyses of business processs and workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business processes, systems and user requirements.
User Story Development and Management 30%
- Develop and refine user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring they are clear, actionable, and aligned with business objectives.
- Continuously update and prioritize the product backlog in collaboration with the Product Owner, ensuring that it reflects current business priorities and project status.
- Facilitate backlog refinement sessions with the development team to ensure a shared understanding of user stories and readiness for upcoming sprints.
Facilitation and Communication 20%
- Act as a key liaison between the Product Owner, development team, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and alignment on project goals and priorities.
- Communicate complex concepts and requirements clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring all team members understand project objectives and deliverables.
- Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the project, promoting a collaborative and productive team environment.
Quality Assurance and Validation 10%
- Support the development team in creating and executing test plans to ensure that deliverables meet defined acceptance criteria and business requirements.
- Facilitate user acceptance testing by coordinating with end-users, gathering feedback, and ensuring that the final product aligns with user expectations and needs.
- Validate completed user stories and features by revieing and testing them against acceptance criteria, documenting any issues and working with the team to resolve them.
Education and Experience Required:
- Diploma/Degree & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 10 years of Business Analyst or related work experience required
- 2-3 years of Commercial Property and Casualty insurance experience required
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
Language
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to write specifications, analyses and required documentation to clearly and effectively communicate technical issues to a wide variety of audiences both technical and non-technical.
- Ability to create documentation and user guides for a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present to all levels of employees and managers on complex topics.
Mathematical
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions related to policy rate making and premium calculations.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
