Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Buyer/Planner to join our supply chain team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing procurement activities, developing sourcing strategies, and ensuring seamless production planning to meet organizational goals. This role requires a strong understanding of ERP systems, procurement management, and contract negotiation, with a focus on optimizing supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment. The Buyer/Planner will collaborate closely with suppliers, internal departments, and stakeholders to maintain efficient materials flow and uphold quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies utilizing ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS to ensure timely sourcing of materials and services.
- Manage purchasing activities, including RFQs, contract negotiations, and supplier selection to secure optimal pricing and terms.
- Oversee procurement processes in compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and company policies.
- Coordinate with production planning teams to align procurement schedules with manufacturing requirements using MRP systems.
- Conduct root cause analysis for supply chain disruptions and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage supplier relationships, evaluate supplier performance, and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives in sourcing and logistics.
- Collaborate on category management initiatives to optimize spend across various procurement categories.
- Ensure adherence to quality management standards and contractual obligations through effective contract management.
- Support logistics coordination, inventory management, and materials planning to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier communications.
Requirements
- Proven experience with ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS in a procurement or supply chain environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement management, sourcing strategies, contract negotiation, and contract management processes.
- Familiarity with MRP systems, category management, and production planning methodologies.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to establish mutually beneficial supplier agreements.
- Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is preferred.
- Experience in supply chain management, logistics coordination, materials management, and quality assurance practices.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement process improvements effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and with external suppliers.
