Job Title: Photonics Test Lab Technician
Location: Santa Clara, CA (Onsite 5 days a week)
Duration: 4 months possible extension
Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Networking Lab Technician to facilitate the smooth operation of our optical R&D labs. You will perform a wide variety of hands-on work, from building rack-size installations and helping debug hardware, to collaborating closely with engineers to test the next generation of fiber-optic communication hardware.
What You’ll Do:
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain benchtop setups for fiber-optic communication testing.
- Inspect, clean, and connect fiber-optic cables.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, re-work setups based on dynamic needs.
- Support lab logistics, including shipping, receiving, and inventory of equipment, supplies, and silicon.
- Identify low lab supplies and coordinate purchasing.
What We’re Looking For:
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree, or Diploma/Certification in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of hands-on lab experience in optics or electronics labs, in industries such as photonics, electronics, datacom, or telecom.
- Experience with fiber optic cables and components.
- Great manual dexterity with small components and ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Excellent organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Adaptability and interest in performing diverse tasks.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Experience with optical equipment such as lasers and power meters.
- Experience with electrical equipment such as multimeters, SMUs, and oscilloscopes.
- Experience with Linux and windows computer setup.
- Experience with fiber splicing, soldering, or high-speed RF connectors.
- Experience handling inventory and lab procurement.
