Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this position has knowledge of the organization and function of public agencies, the ability to foster good working relationships among County departments and the general public, is highly organized and can maintain schedules for various programs and projects, can thrive in a small, close knit office environment and has the ability to transition between everyday tasks and customer service throughout the workday.
This position is for the Flood Control & Water Conservation District located at 1509 Schwab Street in Red Bluff.
Examples of Duties
- Plans, organizes, and executes administrative assignments and special projects related to assigned area of responsibility; maintaining accurate and detailed records; verifying accuracy of information; researching discrepancies and recording information.
- Assists department in identifying problems and offering creative solutions.
- Prepares, submits, and receives all claims and requisitions; obtains quotes for specialized supplies and equipment; monitors use and maintenance of supplies and equipment; and/or authorizes payments and purchases.
Required Knowledge of:
- Organization and function of public agencies, including the role of an elected County Council and appointed boards and commissions;
- Applicable codes, regulations, policies, technical processes, and procedures related to the department to which assigned;
- Modern office administrative and secretarial practices and procedures, including the use of standard office equipment;
Education, Experience & Licenses
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by training in secretarial skills or relevant computer software applications programs.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of increasingly responsible office administrative or advanced secretarial support experience involving some public contact.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
License and Special Requirements:
Requires a valid California driver’s license.
- Current, less than 1 year old, typing certificate.
