Education Requirements
Graduate, HS student currently enrolled in a vocational school in manufacturing/machining or engineering discipline required.
Job Summary
Operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines, including CNC infeed/thrufeed centerless grinding machines, CNC surface grinding machines, EDM cutting Machines, and Electromechanical Cutoff machines. Maintain awareness of close tolerance parts, using various types of measuring equipment including comparators, vision systems, calipers, micrometers, indicators and microscopes. Following standard operating procedures and instructions. Operate secondary equipment and perform any other functions within the department that may be necessary.
Role and Responsibilities
- Operate machines, achieving specifications including quality and throughput.
- Implement continuous improvement activities. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform ERP system transactions.
- Perform required daily maintenance to equipment and tools.
- Work from procedures and traveler operation sequences to achieve product specification per print.
- Monitor and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions.
- If necessary for the machine you are running, ensure work piece is properly indicated with in the required specification. Be sure that all coolant lines are properly adjusted.
- Monitor process and specifications.
- Notify supervisor and/or department Lead Person of discrepancies.
- Perform your own inspection during machine set up. Once part dimensions are confirmed and you've completed your first piece verification, a second employee will verify your first piece (a last piece verification will need to be performed by a second employee as well).
- Communicate with co-workers, members of other shifts, technical leader, team leader and/or supervisor to transfer and receive instructions and information.
- Perform 1st piece and In-process inspections.
- Record measurements per inspection plans and methods indicated.
Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in a small device manufacturing environment as is preferred.
- Experience operating equipment is helpful. Experience in medical device manufacturing, aerospace, machinery, metals are desired.
- Have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Follow written and verbal instructions and capable of meeting deadlines. Good manual dexterity and ability to use measurement and inspection tools.
- You must be reliable, show good work habits, adherence to attendance requirements, strong workmanship and a positive attitude are required as well as an ability, desire and flexibility to perform a variety of machining operations and other functions within manufacturing as needed.
