Youth Activity Coordinator

The Center For Family Outreach (TCFFO) and Teen Activity Center 212 (TAC212) are hiring a Youth Specialist to organize, oversee, and facilitate programming at TAC212.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Teen Activity Center 212 is a safe space for teens to relax, learn, create, have fun, and be together with opportunities to participate in a variety of classes and programs. The Center as well as community partners will provide art, music, skill development, wellness, recreational, mentorship, and educational programs. TAC212 is under development by a Youth Advisory Council, and will be opening in June 2023. This role will help in the ongoing development, opening, day to day operations, and expansion of the facility.

The Youth Activity Coordinator will be providing supervision, facilitation, and mentorship for adolescents, and will be working alongside leadership from a variety of businesses and organizations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned

· Work alongside Program Coordinator, TCFFO staff, community partners, and county agencies. Must work well both independently and in a team with excellent communication, customer service, and human relation skills.

· Desire to work with middle and high school aged youth.

· Support teen leadership of TAC212, and attend Youth Advisory Board meetings.

· Maintain daily schedule including classes, programs, and daily opening and closing of TAC212. Maintain and post monthly calendar of events and offerings.

· Help facilitate assorted programs and classes

· Promote TAC212 growth, and expand reach into the community.

· Provide peer support, coaching, and mentorship to youth.

· Provide referrals to TCFFO, mental health, and partner agencies as needed.

· Promote community, connection, diversity, inclusion, compassion, authenticity, and equity.

· Ensure a safe environment including intervention of conflicts, disciplinary action, and escalation as needed.

· Communicate with youth, parents, and guardians both in person and over the phone.

· Monitor, record, and report attendance to the Program Coordinator and TCFFO staff.

· Help keep TAC212 clean and tidy, help pickup and serve meals and snacks, order supplies, and otherwise maintain facility.

· Attend trainings, workshops, classes, lectures, etc., as appropriate.

· Must be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic work environment, and as part of a pilot program. This position is grant funded.

· Act as a mandatory reporter, and consult with TCFFO Executive Director regarding child protection reports.

· Physical requirements include sight, hearing, and ability to stand and walk for four plus hours per day

· Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience

· Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Education, Human Development, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, and possess experience working with youth.

· Knowledge of or experience working with children and youth, preferably in a coaching or mentorship role with knowledge/experience relating to mental health, trauma, or substance abuse issues.

· Knowledge of scope and application of laws (Colorado Children’s Code, Volume VII) and regulations pertaining to physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and child welfare.

· Must have evening and weekend availability including but not limited Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 1:30pm to 8:30pm, Friday and Saturday evenings from 1:30pm to 9:30pm. Hours are subject to change.

· Possession of a valid Colorado Driver’s License

TAC 212

The Center for Family Outreach was established in December of 2000 as a non-profit organization offering prevention, education and early intervention services for youth ages 11 to 18 and their families. We strive to restore hope and provide opportunities as we strengthen and inspire the youth of Larimer County and their families.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 per hour
