Description
The Training Manager will lead, mentor, and support a team of technical instructors while ensuring the delivery of consistent, high-quality training in electrical substation equipment, electrical fundamentals, and safety practices. This role requires a strong leader who can balance people management, operational excellence, and technical expertise. The Training Manager serves as a key liaison between instructors, students, leadership, and clients to uphold training standards and drive continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
Serve as the primary point of contact for technical and logistical training questions.
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of instructors to maintain excellence in training delivery.
Review all newly developed and updated course content for technical accuracy and clarity.
Manage all Day 1 and last-day course operations for host, on-site, and virtual training programs.
Oversee instructor scheduling, resource allocation, and instructional assignments.
Ensure all training materials align with current industry standards and best practices.
Audit weekly student feedback surveys to ensure instructor and course compliance.
Partner with curriculum development teams to enhance course content and delivery methods.
Assign and track instructor content development and facility project progress.
Collaborate with Megger recruitment teams to review and interview instructor candidates.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to support continuous improvement.
Review and approve instructor travel and expense reports.
Act as a subject matter expert on client calls to support training sales efforts.
Oversee instructor recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing professional development.
Substitute for instructors as needed to cover absences.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and professionalism.
Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and implement new training and cash-flow opportunities.
Travel approximately 10–20% annually to support training operations.
What You Must Have
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, power systems, or related fields.
Experience in technical training, instructional delivery, or adult learning.
Previous leadership or management experience.
Strong working knowledge of electrical substation equipment, electrical fundamentals, and safety standards.
Familiarity with NETA, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, IEEE, OSHA, ASTM, ANSI, and related standards.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel as needed to support training operations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel, CONCUR, and related tools.
Proven ability to build, lead, and manage high-performing teams.
