Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
Tedder Whitlock Consulting is a small, relationship-driven accounting firm serving individuals, families, and small businesses throughout Southeast Michigan. We’re growing and are looking for a Tax Associate with a focus on individual income tax (Form 1040) to join our team.
This role is perfect for someone who has at least five years of 1040 preparation experience and wants to grow in a small-firm environment where character, reliability, and quality of work matter. We value people who take ownership, communicate well, and genuinely enjoy helping clients make sense of their tax situation.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare individual income tax returns (1040) and related schedules
- Assist with extensions, estimates, and client follow-up
- Help clients by uploading and organizing documents through our secure portal
- Perform basic bookkeeping tasks for small clients as needed
- Assist the team during busy season with administrative and tax support
- Collaborate closely with partners and staff in a hands-on, supportive environment
What We’re Looking For
- 5 years of 1040 tax preparation experience
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Strong Excel skills (sorting, filtering, pivot tables a plus)
- Comfort communicating with clients in a friendly, professional manner
- Ability to work on-site full-time
- Experience with tax software (we can train on our system)
- Working toward CPA or EA is a plus, but not required
