Job Summary
The host/hostess position is very important. You will provide our guests with their crucial first impression of our restaurant. As a host/hostess you will also be responsible for a variety of hospitality duties, which are vital in keeping our service at an exceptional level. When our guests enter the restaurant they want to see an attentive employee, verses someone going through the motions. Smiling and using eye contact are the most important keys in making outstanding first impressions. The impression the guest receives at the front door is often carried throughout the guest’s entire visit with us. We want to make each guest feel welcome and comfortable by projecting a friendly attitude towards each and every one of them. You are responsible for every guest in the restaurant even after you show them to their seat. Never for any reason make a guest feel rushed or that you are to busy to care for their smallest needs.

Responsibilities
- To ensure that Ted’s standard of service is given to every guest, every time
- Anticipate the guests needs
- To have full knowledge of all four host positions (runner, greeter, hospitality, and podium)
- Be punctual and in full uniform for each shift
- Follow all guidelines, policies, and procedures of Ted’s Café Escondido Restaurants’
- Ensure that all health and sanitation guidelines are followed at all times
- Have a positive attitude at all times
- Perform all side work and setup/breakdown duties as assigned
- Turn tables as quickly and efficiently as possible
- Quote guests accurate wait times
- Communicate with management on large parties and quote times
- Greet guests with friendly smiles and enthusiasm
- Ensure 100% guest satisfaction and return
- Display professional conduct at all times
- Accept personal accountability for all actions
- Be punctual for every shift
- Follow all guidelines, policies, and procedures of Ted’s Café Escondido Restaurants’
- Attend all mandatory meetings.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for your department
- Treat all staff members and guests with respect
- Contribute to a positive working environment
- Maintain confidentiality with all company information
- Ensure that you are knowledgeable of your specific responsibilities in the event of an emergency
- Subject to potentially upset guests and staff
- Involved with guests and staff under all conditions and circumstances
- Varied working hours may include weekends, holidays, late evenings, and early mornings as needed
- Must be able to stand and/or walk 8 hours daily
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. frequently
- Frequent bending, reaching, grasping, and climbing
- Occasional squatting, kneeling, crawling, and fine manipulation
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous host experience in a high volume restaurant is preferred
- Must posses interpersonal relations skills
- Professional in attitude, demeanor, and dress
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
