What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Support Coach - Math position at Tecumseh Public Schools?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Academic Support Coach partners with Specialists and classroom teachers to help identified students achieve academic skill goals. Using Universal Screeners and Progress Monitoring tools, the Academic Support Coach provides targeted interventions, tracks student progress, and ensures students receive the support they need to succeed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work directly with a variety of identified at-risk students under the guidance of Specialists and/or classroom teachers.
- Provide support in the classroom, working with individual students or small groups.
- Monitor and track student progress toward individual skill goals using district-provided forms, sharing updates with Specialists and/or classroom teachers.
- Assist students using Universal Screeners and Progress Monitoring tools, including Dibels Next, Fountas & Pinnell, and NWEA, under the direction of Specialists.
- Meet periodically with Specialists and/or classroom teachers to review student progress.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and students.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings, events, and trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of computer use.
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the day with frequent standing, walking, or sitting.
- Ability to see, hear, and move adequately, or use prosthetics as necessary, to perform the essential duties of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Associate's degree, preferred.
- Experience working with young students and teachers is preferred.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- High moral character, integrity, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Hourly Position hired through EDUStaff, Mon-Thurs 8:15 AM-3:45 PM following the school calendar
