The Preschool Director provides visionary leadership, management, and oversight of the School District's Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). The Director is responsible for ensuring a high-quality preschool program that meets all requirements while supporting the academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth of every child.
Working in close partnership with GSRP leadership at the Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD), the Preschool Director ensures program compliance, continuous quality improvement, and implementation of state initiatives. The Director collaborates with district administration, teachers, families, community agencies, and LISD early childhood staff to provide exceptional early learning experiences and promote kindergarten readiness.
General Information/Duties:
- Provide leadership and day-to-day administration of the district's Great Start Readiness Program.
- Collaborate regularly with Lenawee Intermediate School District GSRP leadership to ensure compliance with MiLEAP requirements, implementation of best practices, and participation in county-wide early childhood initiatives.
- Serve as the district liaison with the LISD, MiLEAP, and other early childhood partners.
- Ensure compliance with all GSRP implementation manuals, licensing regulations, grant requirements, and district policies.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate preschool teaching and support staff.
- Coordinate staff recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing professional learning.
- Monitor curriculum implementation, classroom quality, and child assessment practices.
- Support continuous quality improvement through classroom observations, data analysis, and coaching.
- Oversee enrollment, eligibility verification, waitlists, and family recruitment in accordance with GSRP guidelines.
- Foster meaningful family engagement through home visits, conferences, and parent education opportunities.
- Develop and manage the preschool program budget and monitor grant expenditures.
- Maintain accurate records and submit required reports to the district, LISD, and MiLEAP.
- Coordinate required monitoring visits, audits, and quality assurance activities.
- Build collaborative partnerships with community agencies that support young children and families.
- Promote an inclusive, equitable, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings, events, or trainings
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, Child Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of successful experience in early childhood education.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of Michigan GSRP requirements, licensing regulations, and early childhood best practices.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with district leadership, families, community partners, and Lenawee Intermediate School District GSRP leadership.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate early childhood endorsement or qualifications required under current Michigan GSRP regulations, preferred.
