General Information/Duties:
- Plan and deliver engaging vocal music instruction for middle school and high school students.
- Teach healthy vocal technique, music theory, sight-reading, music history, and performance skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning styles.
- Direct middle school and high school choir ensembles.
- Select appropriate and diverse repertoire for performances and festivals.
- Prepare students for concerts, competitions, adjudications, and community performances.
- Organize and conduct rehearsals during and, when necessary, outside the school day.
- Foster student leadership, teamwork, and personal growth through music.
- Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community
- Be a team player; working with other members to improve techniques, relations with the community, and school environment
- Committed to continuous improvement through training and the use of technology.
- Participate in district-wide professional development
- Perform other duties consistent within the scope of the position
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education
- Current & appropriate Michigan certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of choral pedagogy and vocal instruction.
- Ability and willingness to work in a team setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the academic, social, and emotional needs of the high school age student is required.
Terms of Employment:
Full-time position. All terms per Master Contract between Board of Education and the Tecumseh Education Association/MEA.
