As a Research and Development Technician, you'll be responsible for assisting with activities related to the evaluation of the innovative materials used in these applications. This includes production test runs, testing material performance, maintenance of data and samples, and more. Your work will support the smooth functioning of our R&D lab and directly influence the introduction of new products and processes. Additionally, you'll have access to technical training crafted to improve your skills and the opportunity to collaborate with different teams within our business units, as well as external service providers and universities.

Highlights of your role

  • Perform analytical testing with accuracy and precision; prepare chemicals and test set-ups according to laboratory procedures.
  • Demonstrate compliance to established R&D laboratory practices including maintenance of records, inventory for lab consumables, and housekeeping activities as needed.
  • Accurately and precisely conducts testing, data collection, and analyses of test results as specified by team and project needs.
  • Support trial activities including preparation and set-up, support documentation of trial results, sample management, and testing.
  • Maintain R&D instruments and equipment to ensure availability for use; is a liaison for calibrations; and a training resource for associates.
  • Support the creation of new procedures for test instruments/equipment/processes/ or revisions to existing ones.
  • Support short-range projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain chemical storage and inventory in accordance with laboratory safety guidelines. Support compliance with R&D safety audit schedule.
  • Promote effective communication by engaging with team members and other collaborators across the organization
  • Participate in relevant on-the-job/external training as determined by R&D Leadership

Requirements

You're a good fit if you have

  • Pultrusion and general lab experience are highly desirable
  • Math skills and basic knowledge of statistics
  • Familiarity with both manufacturing processes and analytical methodologies
  • Excellent digital literacy with the ability to use Tecton computer programs and systems.
  • Ability to read instrument/equipment manuals and establish operating guidelines
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Flexibility, willingness, and ability to quickly respond to changing priorities in a timely manner is required.
  • Excitement for diverse material technologies and embracing change. Adaptability and versatility are essential
  • Capable of safely lifting/moving objects when required (25-50 lbs)
