We are seeking a Commercial Roofing Estimator for our Jacksonville shop.

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for roofing projects and submitting competitive bids to contractors and private clients. This role involves analyzing blueprints and project documentation to determine time, materials, labor, and overall costs, with a focus on roofing services and specific product types. The Estimator also supports sales and project teams by providing timely information, answering questions, and ensuring clear communication with customers and internal stakeholders.

Job Functions

• Plan, organize, and establish objectives and goals for duties assigned.
• Estimate job costs and submit proposals for review.
• Create/ request Show Drawings; Write submittal letters.
• Obtain Product Data Sheets, Samples, etc.
• Utilize bid log to track own bids and total bids closed
• Ensure processes are followed from pre-bid until handoff meeting
• Draft proposals to General Contractors, private clients, and other customers
• Be accountable for your own goals, decisions, and bids.
• Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
• Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
• Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
• Additional responsibilities as assigned
• Field customer requests and questions pre job
• Cooperate with Project Management, Service, and Office Departments
• Assist in budget development for operations
  
  

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent, college preferred
• 3-5 years of roofing estimating experience
• Edge Estimating Software preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet program, including strong analytical abilities
• Ability to climb roofs and visit active job sites
• Superior Listening and Communications Skills
• Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with associates
• Bilingual Spanish
• Strong negotiating Skills
• Ability to read blueprints
• Knowledge of business and management principles
