Position Description:
The Windows Server Administrator will provide advanced operational and technical support for Client’s enterprise Windows Server environment within the Information Technology Division (ITD). This role will augment Clients staff by performing daytoday server administration, security remediation, automation, and lifecycle management activities across development, test, and production environments.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Administer, maintain, and support enterprise Windows Server environments, including physical and virtual servers.
- Support SCCM/MECM operations, including operating system deployments, patching, software distribution, and configuration compliance.
- Perform vulnerability remediation activities in coordination with TxDOT security teams, including patching, hardening, and validation of remediation efforts.
- Administer and support Active Directory services, including user and group management, Group Policy, DNS, and OU structures within a large enterprise environment.
- Develop, maintain, and execute PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks, remediation activities, reporting, and operational workflows.
- Manage and support internal PKI and external/public certificate processes, including certificate requests, renewals, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in formal change management processes, including change documentation, impact analysis, implementation, and postchange validation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex server, authentication, certificate, and configuration issues.
- Adhere to Clients enterprise standards, security requirements, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with Clients infrastructure teams, application teams, security teams, and external vendors.
Minimum Yrs of Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- 8 years of experience administering Windows Server environments in a large enterprise or government organization.
- 5 years of handson experience with SCCM/MECM, including deployments and patch management.
- 5 years of experience administering Active Directory in a multidomain or enterprisescale environment.
- Strong experience with vulnerability remediation and security patching in regulated or compliancedriven environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Experience managing both internal (PKI) and external/public certificates.
- Experience operating within formal change management processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving skills for enterprise server environments.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a larger infrastructure team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Experience supporting Windows Server 2019/2022 in highly available, enterprise environments.
- Experience working in government, transportation, or other large publicsector organizations.
- Familiarity with ITIL or ITSM frameworks and operational best practices.
- Experience supporting hybrid or cloudintegrated environments (e.g., Azureconnected services).
- Knowledge of enterprise security standards and audit requirements.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (Windows Server, SCCM, Azure, or securityrelated certifications).
Salary : $45 - $50
