Job Title: Senior ASIC Test Engineer
Location: San Jose, CA
Role Overview
As a Senior ASIC Test Engineer, you will join the Product Engineering department within the DSRD unit. This team supports global customers in the layout, prototyping, fabrication, and testing of advanced ASIC products.
You will serve as the technical interface between customers, test partners, and internal teams, taking end-to-end ownership of ASIC test solutions from prototype characterization through volume production and yield optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and plan test-related work packages across all project phases in collaboration with the Project Manager
- Set up and manage ASIC test solutions with external test houses
- Lead prototype-to-production ramp discussions with customers, including characterization and qualification strategies
- Oversee volume production post-ramp, including:
- Yield improvement initiatives
- Cost optimization plans (multi-site testing, packaging alternatives, etc.)
- Perform yield analysis and drive continuous improvement during volume manufacturing
- Coordinate ASIC qualification activities (HTOL, HAST, TC, ESD, LU, etc.)
- Maintain technical alignment with customers, test houses, and internal stakeholders
- Stay current with advanced test and packaging technologies through regular technical training
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electronics or a related field
- 10 years of experience in ASIC testing, preferably in an industrial or high-volume production environment
- Extensive hands-on experience with Teradyne UltraFLEX testers
- Proven experience in ASIC qualification methodologies:
- HTOL, HAST, Temperature Cycling, ESD, Latch-Up, etc.
- Strong experience working in project-based, cross-functional environments
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Proactive, customer-oriented mindset with the ability to take initiative
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Willingness to travel approximately 1 week per month to subcontractors and partners
